Another group of 14 health workers (13 from the Upper East Region) completes training in Module 1 of our cervical cancer prevention programme

Fourteen health workers (13 from the Upper East Region and 1 from Akatsi South District) completed Module 1 of our training programme on Friday, June 18, 2021. Apart from screening for cervical precancer, they were also taught clinical breast examination to screen for breast cancer. The aim is to have community-based cervical and breast cancer screening services across the country.

Nine of the trainees from the Upper East Region were sponsored by a philanthropist who would like to remain anonymous. On learning about our programme, this philanthropist donated $20,000 to train health workers in the Upper East Region and the Eastern Region to set up cervical cancer prevention units.

Before graduating, the trainees presented on how they will set up cervical precancer and breast cancer screening programmes in their respective institutions when they go back.

  6. Ms. Priscilla Awonlie Abiem, Midwife, Sandema Hospital, Builsa North District, Upper East Region.
  7. Ms. Rofina Ayinpoka Anaba, Midwife, Talensi District Hospital, Talensi District, Upper East Region.
  8. Ms. Emmanuella Nafisah Mbangiba, Midwife, Talensi District Hospital, Talensi District, Upper East Region.
  9. Ms. Evelyn Kolena Apeba, Midwife, Gbani CHPS, Talensi District, Upper East Region.
