Interesting information I got this week:
- Laboratory Scientists in Ghana are not happy that Nurses and Midwives in Ghana are performing point of care tests?

That Nurses and Midwives are adding laboratory tests they perform ‘to their portfolio’ and using this to negotiate for more salary/allowance?
-
This means Laboratory Scientists may be doing less and this can affect them as they negotiate for better salaries and allowances?
I find it interesting because with the ‘fight’ between the Laboratory Scientists and Laboratory Physicians, I got the impression that the Laboratory Scientists are the chief advocates of task shifting.
The future will be more interesting with more point of care tests and artificial intelligence.
