“In all affairs it’s a healthy thing now and then to hang a question mark on the things you have long taken for granted.”
– Bertrand Russell.
There are many areas I would like to see things being done differently in Ghana. I will restrict myself to two areas here:
- Cervical cancer prevention.
– Training, capacity building across the country among nurses, midwives, physician assistants, medical doctors.
- Postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
– Decentralisation, involvement of some Members (who are certified in specific areas and demonstrated competence on the ground) in training outside the traditional Teaching Hospitals.
I have proposed modifications to the way things are done in many of my pieces (and actually put myself in situations to demonstrate that things can be done differently).
People have challenged me (on professional platforms and elsewhere) that I don’t have a case. Some have ridiculed me and even suggested that my posture is due to ‘sour grapes.’
I keep wondering:
-
Are they happy with the status quo, and want us to continue how we do things?
-
Do they have other ways they think we should do things?
What are they and what prevents them from bringing these out?
